The Principal Ultrafiltration Membrane chemist is responsible for the development and characterization of new flat sheet ultrafiltration (UF) membrane products as well as the optimization and improvement of existing UF flat sheet chemistries. Using sound experimental design techniques and data analysis skills, they will execute studies starting in the lab, carrying though production scale-up trials, and final product release to production. They will provide technical expertise and troubleshooting to manufacturing for our existing UF flat sheet membrane products and processes. This person will be part of multi-functional team focused on development of new casting lines to produce improved UF membrane chemistries with the aim of producing first-in-class membrane products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)
Design and develop new flat sheet UF membrane products
Optimize performance of existing UF membrane products
Utilize statistical design of experiments to effectively plan, analyze, and execute projects

Provide technical expertise to UF membrane manufacturing department to resolve technical problems

Master’s degree or PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Membrane Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
Training and Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in the UF membrane business in a development role within a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Visio.
Skills and Abilities to:
Working knowledge and understanding of flat sheet UF phase inversion chemistries and processes.
Demonstrate teamwork skills, technical, communication, and critical thinking.
Planning and timeline management for multiple projects.

Work is usually performed in a production and office environment, utilizing lab, industrial, and office equipment. The job will also require the employee to safely handle, use, and dispose of chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
