Position Summary

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Facilities Manager will oversee the maintenance of our location in Goleta, CA. This position will be responsible for managing the personnel and services required to maintain the company’s facilities, equipment, and offices. Performs maintenance, repairs, modifications, and improvements including emergency repairs of equipment, machinery, buildings, grounds, utilities, fixtures, and furniture as necessary to meet the company’s needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)

  • Ensure that preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and service of our membrane and spiral equipment and general building facilities is performed in a timely and effective manner.

  • Maintain on‐going preventative maintenance programs for production equipment, utilities, grounds, and buildings.

  • Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day maintenance of the facility.

  • Research and obtain quotes as needed for facility needs requiring outside vendor service and act as liaison between MICRODYN-NADIR and third party facilities vendors.

  • Ensure maintenance shop, vehicles, and all job sites are maintained clean and organized.

  • Work within the operations organization to establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to accomplish the department's goals and objectives effectively.

  • Monitor maintenance operation expenses and establish cost reduction while maintaining product quality.

  • Manage/oversee installation process of Tools/Machines.

  • Work with appropriate city and state departments to obtain proper permitting.

  • Manage third party security and custodial company.

  • (Re)negotiate contracts with third party vendors.

  • Review work requests and issue work orders to department personnel daily.

  • Responsible for safety and welfare of subordinates, execution and documentation of department meetings, and safety training.

  • Train maintenance staff as needed.

  • Perform quarterly and annual employee reviews

  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Requirements:
Associate Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; Engineering degree preferred

Experience Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 10 years of facilities maintenance experience.

  2. Minimum 5 years of demonstrated successful people management and supervisory experience

  3. Must have experience in controlled environments

  4. Excellent written, verbal communication, and negotiation skills

  5. Experience managing budgets

  6. Ability to be on-call and respond to facility needs after hours and/or during weekends

  7. Experience with facility support of the following tools: Chillers, Boilers, Crane, HVAC, DI water systems, scrubbers, generators, exhaust fans, HEPA systems, process vacuum, flammable chemical storage, and general building maintenance

  8. Experience in a quality certified environment, i.e. ISO9001, 5S, 8D, lean six sigma

  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems; collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and variables.

  • Computer Skills - eMaintenance, design software (Visio, AutoCAD, Solidworks…), Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is usually performed in a warehouse and office environment, utilizing standard warehouse or office equipment and common warehouse tools.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee is frequently required to move and use hands. The employee is constantly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. May be required to receive medical clearance to use a respirator.
