POSITION SUMMARY
The incumbent carries out and coordinates the process engineering development for new technologies in terms of manufacturing processes/materials, as well as improvements to existing processes. These processes/materials may already exist on the market but are not yet applied in MANN+HUMMEL or are new in the market and are expected to make a positive differentiation from the competition. It is the aim to prove the basic lean suitability for mass production of M+H products. This position interfaces with external suppliers and customers and internal departments, including: Engineering, R&D, Production, Sales, Purchasing, Controlling, and Quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)
- Plan, apply, and verify production process of new developments
- Improve, lean, and 5S existing operations through tooling, layout, and organization innovation
- Consider requirements for function, cost, and production needs
- Intensive cooperation with R&D (on product) and Operations (on process)
- Lead the definition of specification for required machine, tools, and material
- Plan and coordinate experiments
- Prove process capability prior to releasing it for mass production programs
- Demonstrate competitive advantage with support of Controlling
- Document findings of investigation
- Share results and provide training on group level for released/proven process developments
- Scan market for new technologies to give M+H a competitive advantage
- Scan internal needs for technology improvements
- Support production and maintenance when planning/applying new process for first time in mass production
- Incorporate lean and 5S principles into all projects, including new launches and machine refurbishment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Process Engineering or similar / comparable educational background
Training and Experience:
- Minimum 4 years’ experience; preferred 3 years‘ experience in Manufacturing Engineering role
- Familiar with required production process and working process (e.g. pleating, plastic injection molding, plastic welding, assembly)
- Familiar with measuring devices
- IATF 16949 awareness (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control plan, etc.)
- Familiar with Innovation Tools
- Must be proficient in use of SolidWorks
- Must be competent in making parts drawings for fabrication
- Programming experience a plus
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have supervisory duties
WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is usually performed in a production and office environment, utilizing lab, industrial, and office equipment. The job will also require the employee to safely handle, use, and dispose of chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and write in a professional manner. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
